Whether you
are in Boston for a romantic getaway, to have fun with a group
of friends, or showing your kids the city we have some sample
itineraries for you to get you imagination going. Visit www.bostonusa.com
for a complete listing of what the city has to offer to plan your
own itinerary.
Family
Fun
Boston offers
dozens of family friendly activities. The Duck Tours are a fun
way to see the city and not have to do endless wandering. The
tour last about 80 minutes and hits all the high points of the
city!
Then it’s
on to Faneuil Hall Marketplace, a magical place in the center
of Boston. You’ll discover free entertainment, incredible
shopping, eateries of all descriptions and fun street performers
and musicians.
After exploring
the shops and taking in the sites – it’s time to eat.
You have over 40 delicious options in the Quincy Market Colonnade
to choose from. Slugger’s Dugout and Durgin Park are both
family friendly restaurants in Faneuil Hall. If your family members
are big fans of baseball then Slugger’s Dugout is the place
to be!
While roaming
the Marketplace you may run into Dan Foley juggling lawn chairs,
or Alakazam putting his entire body through a tennis racket. These
are just a few of our world famous street performers who entertain
our guests.
If you are
in the mood for a fun, learning experience try the Children’s
or the Science Museums or the New England Aquarium – all
within walking distance of the marketplace. No matter what your
age you will enjoy these places!
Romantic
Get-A-Way
Start your
day on an exceptional note by waking up in one of Boston’s
four star hotels in the Back Bay: XV Beacon, The Beacon Hill Hotel
& Bistro, or The Eliot Suite Hotel, all of which were named
in 2001 to Boston’s best hotel list.
Grab breakfast
at the Quincy Market Colonnade before you begin exploring the
city. Many of the restaurants in the Colonnade open as early as
7:30am and serve breakfast dishes as ordinary as a bagel and cream
cheese from Carol Ann's Bakery or as unique as dishes from El
Paso Enchiladas. On Sundays you can enjoy a scrumptuous brunch
at Sam's Café at Cheers, Plaza III and Kingfish.
Boston has
an endless array of activities for couples to choose from. We
invite our guests to visit www.bostonusa.com
to see what the city has to offer while you’re here. A few
suggestions are:
- Have an
adventure and discover Boston while walking the Freedom Trail,
leading you straight to the Marketplace.
- For the
athletic couple, we suggest an early morning run along the Charles
River or at the Fens, a wetland preserve. Or you can go canoeing
and kayaking on the Charles River during the day. Or you can
take it easy and simply go walking around one of the most historic
cities in the US.
- If you
love exploring museums, Boston has a great selection to choose
from. Everything from The Museum of Fine Arts, to The John F.
Kennedy Library / Museum, and of course The Science Museum is
a great place if you have a spark of childlike curiosity.
Your get-a-way would not be complete without shopping and seeing
the sights at Faneuil Hall Marketplace, where both the unique
and favorite stores unite to form a delightful shopping atmosphere.
Walk along the cobblestone streets while enjoying the entertainment
of our Street Performers.
After a whole
day of shopping and sight-seeing you can relax for a little bit
at a spa to get ready for your night on the town. Bella Sante
and Vidal Sassoon were both featured in Boston Magazine’s
Best of Boston section for Best Manicures and Hair Styling. While
she is getting her nails done, don’t forget to get her some
of the freshest flowers around at Exotic Flowers in Faneuil Hall
Marketplace to surprise her for the big night.
Once both
of you are ready to go you have a number of options, all of which
require making reservations to ensure a seat. Faneuil Hall Marketplace
offers upscale dining with the best seafood and steaks around.
You can take your pick from Kingfish Hall, Plaza
III, Wagamama and McCormick & Schmick’s.
Take in a
perfect after dinner show at the historic Wang Theatre or Majestic
Theatre, delighting your senses while watching a ballet or opera.
Tickets are available at the BosTix ticket booth next to historic
Faneuil Hall, so don’t forget to get your tickets early
in the day.
Fun
& Fit
For all of
you avid athletes who want to escape to the home the most elite
race: the Boston Marathon, we have an itinerary for you! Start
your day running on the beautiful path by the Charles River or
at the Fens Wetland Preserve. If it is a Saturday morning take
part in the weekly Road Race around Fresh Pond at 10am.
Enjoy lunch
at Quincy Market’s Colonnade, which offers a variety of
choices sure to satisfy anybody’s craving. Boston Chowda
offers all kinds of sandwiches and piping hot soups, and the Monkey
Bar makes smoothies with every imaginable fruit! After lunch,
relax while shopping the Marketplace’s shops. Bill Rogers’
Running Center is a must!
The afternoon
options are endless: rent canoes or kayaks and sail down the Charles
River; take a walk along the Freedom Trail; or take a cruise on
the Boston Harbor.
Dinner is
in Faneuil Hall Marketplace at Kingfish Hall (Boston Magazine’s
Best Seafood Restaurant) or Zuma’s Tex Mex Café.
Both offer a wide variety of food with an interesting artistic
décor inside.
There are
many possibilities for after dinner entertainment. New England’s
largest Comedy Nightclub, The Comedy Connection, is located upstairs
in Quincy Market. For sports fans, you can walk to North Station
to catch Paul Pierce blazing down the court with his expert basketball
skills at a Celtics game. Don’t forget to catch Manny hitting
a few home runs at Fenway Park. Fenway is a short ride away on
the T and a night game is always best when you’re in the
bleechers.
